Technology supply chain shipment spotlights

When a leading technology company received a last-minute request to move 30 pallets of server racks—more than 10 tons of cargo total—from Taipei to San Francisco over a weekend, most available flights were already full.
Other forwarders proposed splitting the freight across multiple flights and house air waybills (HAWBs), but that approach introduced risk to the delivery deadline and complicated tracking for the customer’s leadership team, who were monitoring the project closely.
Leveraging long-standing airline relationships and active capacity management, AIT’s technology logistics professionals canvassed carriers for a same-flight solution that balanced speed, space and cost.
Within two hours of the initial call, the AIT team presented multiple options with clear trade-offs on transit time, price and risk. The customer selected an option that consolidated all 30 pallets on one flight with a single HAWB structure, avoiding the complexity of split routing while simplifying visibility, handoffs and delivery planning.
AIT closely coordinated pre-departure handling, reconfirming load plans and unitization to protect the server racks and ensure all pieces were tendered and accepted together. Throughout the move, AIT and the airline jointly monitored milestones and provided proactive status updates, keeping the stakeholders informed from cargo acceptance through arrival.
The final result? On-time delivery in four days, despite peak-capacity constraints and a weekend departure requirement.

Utilizing an electric tractor unit, our teams collaborated to successfully complete the longest EV delivery ever for AIT—transporting crucial computing equipment for our technology sector customer on an 800-mile journey from New Jersey to Chicago.
This achievement proves that electric vehicles can overcome range limitations and provide long-distance linehaul service, a major milestone for sustainable logistics!
As advancements in battery technology and charging infrastructure continue to evolve, AIT remains committed to exploring innovative ways to reduce emissions for our customers and the entire freight forwarding industry, driving a more sustainable future for all.

The customer’s concerns? Previous experiences with other providers had resulted in late deliveries, cargo damage and even lost freight. Additionally, they were looking for a more sustainable shipping option.
AIT’s teams in China and the United States responded to the challenge by ensuring strict chain-of-custody management for the business-critical air and ground shipment. They also implemented a more sustainable, secure packaging method for the sensitive cargo.
Rather than shipping with traditional, single-use wooden crates, the team used environmentally friendly crates that can be reused repeatedly. Every shipment in one of these crates saves two trees from being cut down and a single tree can offset as much as a ton of CO2 in its lifetime!
Plus, the compact, collapsible design of these reusable crate is ultra-tough and includes built-in real-time tracking and condition monitoring.

More than a year into the ongoing project, AIT coordinates multiple weekly shipments of the 55-80” screens, including installation, inspection, deinstallation (with returns to client facilities in California and Kentucky), and inventory management.
As the program continues to expand to more locations, the team’s secure and efficient ground shipping, white glove and reverse logistics solution has a 100% on-time rating.

AIT’s technology transportation experts not only worked with our core carriers to secure tough-to-find air capacity, but they also arranged for final mile service featuring air-ride trailers to move the sensitive cargo to its destinations with teams providing white glove delivery including debris removal.
The result? A smooth, efficient shipment that delighted the customer.
