Life sciences logistics shipment spotlights
June 23, 2026
When a biotechnology company specializing in cardiovascular treatments needed to move a high-value, full-size pallet of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals from Canada to a customer distribution facility in the United States, AIT’s life sciences logistics experts in both countries made it happen.
The shipment required careful coordination to remain within a controlled range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, as well as precise documentation for its cross-border journey. To support the customer’s requirements, AIT life sciences teams in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Toronto collaborated to plan and execute an overnight temperature-controlled vehicle delivery.
Before pickup, an AIT life sciences lead was on site at the shipper’s facility to oversee critical origin activities. Following the shipper’s standard operating procedure, the lead completed shipping documents, affixed temperature monitors to the pallet and confirmed required labels were in place, including temperature-sensitive, time-sensitive, and do-not-stack handling labels. AIT’s on-site expert also ensured photos were taken before, during and after loading, then shared with all stakeholders, including the customer, to support shipment visibility and documentation.
Once the pallet was loaded, the temperature-controlled vehicle was sealed at the shipper’s location. The seal remained in place through delivery at the receiver’s site, supporting chain-of-custody expectations for the shipment. AIT also supported customs clearance, enabling a quick turnaround for the Canada-to-U.S. move.
The appointment-based pickup was arranged four days after initial contact, and the shipment moved door-to-door overnight. The pharmaceuticals arrived on time with no temperature excursions, damage or loss.
For the customer, AIT’s coordinated life sciences logistics network delivered the right combination of planning, onsite execution, customs support and proactive communication. For a shipment where timing, temperature and documentation were the top priorities, AIT helped protect product integrity from origin to destination.

When a deadly fire in Switzerland triggered urgent demand for burn‑care supplies, AIT Worldwide Logistics’ Life Sciences Division mobilized fast to make sure our customer’s critical shipment of reproducible skin tissue made it to Europe on time.
Despite winter storms on both continents causing flight cancellations, we coordinated closely with air and road carriers to get the three pallets of much-needed tissue from California to a distribution center in Belgium by the required date. The operational pivot in response to weather disruption involved quickly rebooking the shipment on a next-flight-out to France and providing dedicated trucking from Paris to the destination.
Our team of life sciences logistics experts also managed customs clearance for the temperature-controlled shipment and provided constant monitoring of the critical cargo.
The result? Delivery approximately three days faster compared to the original weather‑impacted plan – helping sustain emergency and follow-up patient care across the region.
“AIT managed expedited collection and final delivery on short notice,” our customer said. “Events like this underscore the importance of reliable healthcare manufacturing and logistics. They also highlight the strength of our partnership with AIT.”

When every second counts—and every degree matters—AIT Worldwide Logistics’ Critical Solutions Group (CSG) delivers.
Recently, our team partnered with a clinical-stage biotech company to transport a highly sensitive, life-changing shipment: a cornea bound for a regenerative medicine and cell therapy organization in Tokyo, from a donor tissue site in Seattle.
This advanced therapy, aimed at treating diseases of the eye, requires strict temperature control (between 2 to 8°C) and precise timing to preserve its viability.
With only a handful of days to prepare, AIT’s CSG provided van pickup, specialized single-use Credo Cube packaging with built-in GPS tracking, and coordination with the hospital to ensure everything was in place for final delivery.
The result? A flawless cornea delivery and a new partnership. After experiencing missed flights and communication gaps with a previous provider, the biotech client now trusts AIT’s patient-centric solutions for all their shipping needs.

As part of our biotechnology customer’s work on a potential cure for type 1 diabetes, they needed to quickly move the samples from a university in Sweden to their lab in the United States.
AIT's hand carry (also known as “on board courier”) service ensured that these vital samples were delivered promptly and safely, clearing customs much faster than a typical shipment, and eliminating chain of custody concerns.
From scheduling just-in-time pickup immediately after a major holiday to providing shipment packaging and dry ice, AIT’s life sciences logistics pros meticulously managed every detail to guarantee success.
We are incredibly honored to have played a role by providing same-day transatlantic delivery for this potentially transformative research.

Our task: to move these critical assets from one manufacturer to another, ensuring their integrity and security throughout the journey.
Our approach? Tailor-made solutions. We coordinated closely with local experts to construct custom crates, perfectly dimensioned to protect the invaluable molds. Not stopping there, we also supplied additional materials for enhanced internal security, all in response to our client's specific needs.
From Minnesota to South Carolina, an exclusive truck carried these pivotal components, delivering not just the molds, but also peace of mind, right on schedule.
This operation underscored AIT's commitment to going above and beyond, especially when it comes to the sensitive needs of the healthcare sector. And, as a result, AIT continues to serve this customer daily.
