AIT Worldwide Logistics Surpasses St. Jude Fundraising Goal

ITASCA, ILLINOIS (November 2, 2017) – AIT Worldwide Logistics, a global supply chain solutions leader, raised more than $60,000 in 2017 as a Silver Level National Team supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.®
Hundreds of AIT team members along with family and friends joined 22 company teams participating in St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer events across the United States in September. Together, they collected $31,777.36 which was matched dollar-for-dollar by the company for a grand total of $63,554.72. The final donation exceeded AIT’s $50,000 fundraising goal by 27 percent.
According to representatives from St. Jude, the money raised by AIT is enough to pay for 118 blood platelet transfusions, 121 hours of physical therapy or 43 days of chemotherapy.
Vaughn Moore, AIT’s President and CEO, said, “We are thrilled with the enthusiasm generated by this fundraising effort. AIT’s team members have made our flagship alliance with St. Jude a tremendous success in its first year. We are looking forward to actively engaging in our communities by supporting St. Jude for many years to come.”
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.
"While there is much to celebrate in terms of the progress St. Jude has made in the fight against childhood cancer, cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease in U.S. children today and we must keep up the fight until no child dies from cancer," said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "We are thankful for our partners and the tens of thousands of supporters who are raising awareness and support our lifesaving mission through the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer nationwide."
