AIT Sends Golfers, Volunteers to Support CEL's Fundraising Event
ITASCA, ILLINOIS (September 28, 2015) – Continuing a tradition of support that has persisted for the past several years, AIT participated in last month's 20th annual charity golf tournament benefitting The Center for Enriched Living (CEL) at the Ivanhoe Club in Mundelein, Illinois.
The company not only made a sponsorship donation to the event, but a small army of co-workers took time out of their busy work day to volunteer at the tournament.
President and CEO Vaughn Moore participated as a golfer in the tournament and he was joined on the course by other AIT representatives. The day began cloudy but soon turned stormy and eventually all participants and volunteers were called back to the clubhouse as the course became flooded in many areas.
Despite the inclement weather, the fundraiser was ultimately a success, raising more than $390,000 and topping last year's record by $25,000.
"Supporting CEL provides AIT with the opportunity to give back to the members who depend so heavily on the Center," said Kim Smigiel, Director Marketing & Communications, who is the chair of AIT's Charity Committee. "The golf outing is a fun way to collaborate for a few short hours with other co-workers who volunteer to support the mission of the CEL: helping people with developmental disabilities to be fully included in the community, achieve personal success and enjoy a good quality of life."
