AIT Worldwide Logistics Boston office relocates across Chelsea River

Supply chain industry leader supports business expansion with move to larger, modern location
ITASCA, ILLINOIS (September 16, 2019) – Supply chain solutions leader AIT Worldwide Logistics’ Boston station recently moved its team of 13 from East Boston to a new, larger location in Chelsea.
According to AIT’s Vice President Americas Operations, Ryan Carter, the new location is 30 percent larger than the previous site at 370 McClellan Highway in East Boston, featuring more private offices and conference rooms. However, the short move of just 1.5 miles means the station remains centrally located for customers, and strategically located in the business district, with easy access to Logan International Airport.
“As AIT continues to grow, the move to a larger, more modern space ensures we can sustainably expand and sets us up for future success,” Carter said. “We’re pleased to have found a new, more modern home just across the Chelsea River, so we can continue to increase our operational capacity while providing uninterrupted, best-in-class service to our customers.”
Carter added that the station took advantage of the move by scheduling concurrent technology upgrades.
According to AIT’s Executive Vice President Global Operations, Greg Weigel, the station has a reputation for outstanding service, supporting customers in the retail marketing, life sciences and aerospace industries, among others, and doing business in nearly all shipping modes.
“Expanding and improving the Boston office space is critical to our strategy in the northeast United States,” Weigel said. “With AIT's recent acquisitions, Boston is a lynchpin supporting both our transatlantic trade lane and our sector capabilities in aviation and life sciences. It’s also essential to upgrade our facilities in recognition of the significant contributions from AIT teammates. By creating an optimum working environment, both our teammates and our customers succeed.”
The Boston station has seen virtually zero customer turnover in almost two decades and the staff is also highly tenured, with their longest-serving teammate on his 32nd year.
Beyond its business achievements, the Boston office is known for community outreach. Among other charitable activities, the station is a long-time supporter of childhood literacy advocates Hands Across the Sea and annual participant in the Boston St. Jude Walk/Run to support the children’s research hospital.
The location also recently welcomed a new station manager, Michael Jeannotte. A logistics veteran with more than 16 years of experience, Jeannotte joined the company on June 28.
