AIT Worldwide Logistics Teammates Surpass St. Jude Fundraising Goal for Second Year in a Row
More than 20 teams participated in St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer events across North America
ITASCA, ILLINOIS (November 7, 2018) – Global supply chain solutions leader AIT Worldwide Logistics raised more than $55,000 in 2018 as a Silver Level National Team supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.® This achievement marks the second consecutive year that AIT teammates have banded together to surpass the company’s fundraising goal for the kids of St. Jude.
Hundreds of AIT team members along with family and friends joined 23 company teams participating in St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer events across the United States this past September. Together, they collected $28,641 which was matched dollar-for-dollar by the company for a grand total of $57,282. The final donation exceeded AIT’s $50,000 fundraising goal by more than 14 percent.
According to representatives from St. Jude, the money raised by AIT team members can cover the cost of 111 hours of physical therapy, 179 chest x-rays or 128 days of oxygen for St. Jude patients.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.
Vaughn Moore, AIT’s President and CEO, said, “I continue to be in awe of the generous efforts by teammates across the AIT network to support the kids of St. Jude. Two years ago, our team members voted to make St. Jude the company’s flagship charitable alliance and their dedication to this cause has been truly remarkable. Thank you to everyone who gave back to the community by participating and/or donating – we are very much looking forward to renewing our efforts in 2019.”
