What is ISO certification?
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 explained. Plus: the benefits of choosing an ISO-certified logistics partner
ISO standards are internationally agreed-upon frameworks developed by experts. They cover many industries and activities, from manufacturing products and managing processes to delivering services and supplying materials.
The ISO 9001 quality management standards help organizations work more efficiently and reduce product failures. Environmental management standards set by ISO 14001 can help reduce environmental impacts and waste while supporting sustainability. Other ISO standards address workplace health and safety, energy management, food safety and information security.

Is AIT ISO-certified?
Yes. Several AIT locations and lines of business are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or both, and additional locations and lines of business join the program each year. Most of AIT's facilities in Asia and Europe have obtained ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001 certification. Review our certifications in the Factbook section of the 2026 Sustainability Report.
How does AIT manage ISO certification?
AIT's management prioritizes locations and lines of business for certification. These locations then work with AIT's global quality team to coordinate training, system knowledge and document reporting. An ISO auditor is assigned, and all certified locations participate in required audits.
What is ISO 9001:2015 certification?
ISO 9001:2015 sets requirements for a quality management system. Organizations use it to demonstrate that they can consistently provide products and services that meet customer, statutory and regulatory requirements. The standard also supports customer satisfaction through effective processes, continual improvement and conformity with applicable requirements.
The requirements are generic and can apply to organizations of any type or size, regardless of the products or services they provide.
What is ISO 14001 certification?
ISO 14001 is part of a family of standards that provides practical tools for organizations to manage their environmental responsibilities. It outlines a framework for establishing an effective environmental management system.
The standard applies to organizations of any type or size, regardless of activity or sector. It can give management, employees and external stakeholders confidence that environmental impacts are being measured and improved.
What are the benefits of choosing an ISO-certified logistics partner?
ISO certification is recognized worldwide, and many ISO-certified companies prefer to work with other ISO-certified companies. Key benefits include:
Lower-risk partnerships — ISO certification shows that an independent third party has audited and approved the organization, giving prospective clients additional confidence in the relationship.
Consistent quality — ISO 9001 provides criteria for a quality management system and supports standardized processes, which can lead to more consistent service.
Greater efficiency — Standardized processes can reduce variation and support on-time delivery.
