What are prohibited shipping items for freight forwarding?

Freight forwarders like AIT are unable to ship certain prohibited items on behalf of our customers, including personal effects and/or household goods or vehicles for individuals, as well as live animals, plants, or human remains. If your item is prohibited it must be handled through a moving or storage company only. 


What are restricted items?

While freight forwarders can handle the items on the list below, they must maintain specific handling instructions, or require special approval prior to handling:

  • Alcohol and wine 
  • Ammunition
  • Antiques
  • Art, original works, and valuable works
  • Bagged goods
  • Blood, blood Components, saliva, tissue, or other bodily fluids 
  • Boats and yachts
  • Bulk commodities
  • CBD oils, marijuana products and Products containing THC 
  • Cellular phones, smart Phones and PDAs
  • Cement, non-bulk
  • Laptops, memory chips and boards and tablets
  • Currency, currency equivalents, coins of any kind and bank notes
