Personal philosophy
Always remain open-minded while enjoying the pursuit of knowledge and personal improvement in all facets of life.
Vaughn Moore’s personal philosophy has long shaped his executive leadership style. His belief in the value of humility––hiring smart people, embracing change and giving back with time, talent or treasure––has laid the groundwork for his career as a communicator, innovator and leader. It’s also helped set the bar for AIT’s professionalism and continued success as a company.
Throughout his more than two decades at AIT, he’s guided exponential growth with strong thought leadership and strategic foresight, first as vice president of sales and marketing (2002–2010), then as president and CEO (2010-2022) and now as chairman and CEO.
Vaughn oversaw the company’s leveraged buyout in 2012 and continues to spearhead its continuously expansive journey, pushing AIT to take on challenges with an eye toward flexibility and customization that define its world-class supply-chain solutions.
With an unwavering commitment to growth and excellence, Vaughn has guided the organization into more sustainable operations, including specialized expertise for industries as diverse as marine logistics, consumer retail and high-tech. His forward thinking and ambassadorship have established AIT as a freight forwarder that consistently evolves to meet the needs of customers around the world.
He’s earned numerous accolades throughout his career, including Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2023), the Airforwarders Association’s Jim Foster Memorial Award (2024) for individuals who have made a significant contribution to the industry, and a coveted spot on Crain's Who's Who in Chicago Business list (2024, 2025).
He received his MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and makes his home in the Chicago area. When he’s not at AIT’s global headquarters or traveling around the world for work, Vaughn can be found spending quality time with his wife and daughter or holding his own on Medinah’s famous Course #3.

"We push ourselves when we hire people better than ourselves. I’ve made a career out of it, and it has worked extraordinarily well. If we can fill up our company with that type of philosophy, then I think we can accomplish even more amazing things."
