Blood Bank Collects Nearly Three Dozen Units at AIT's Event
ITASCA, ILLINOIS (September 28, 2015) – Building on the success of last year's event, AIT-Chicago once again hosted a blood drive in the Auditorium at the 701 N. Rohlwing location.
New this year, co-workers were invited to sign up directly on LifeSource's website to create a more seamless donor experience. Nearly 40 AIT team members offered to make a donation with a total of 35 units collected. The LifeSource representatives stated they were very pleased with the turnout and noted that the blood from this drive had the potential to help dozens of area patients during a seasonal shortage.
"Partnering with LifeSource allows AIT to make a positive impact on the lives of people who are in need," added Kim Smigiel, Director Marketing & Communications, who chairs the Charity Committee. "LifeSource strives to maintain blood inventory levels of seven days. By hosting this drive on AIT's property, donors participate at a convenient location and contribute to the AIT Cares program with service hours. With this donation of 35 units, hospitals in the Chicago area will benefit thanks to the selflessness of our co-workers."
If you are looking to find and connect with a blood bank in your area, visit the America's Blood Center's website and enter your ZIP code into the Where Can I Donate? search box.
