AIT Thanked by The Center for Enriched Living
AIT Worldwide Logistics Executive Vice President Ray Fennelly visited The Center for Enriched Living (CEL) last month during the charity's annual meeting. While there, Fennelly accepted a unique item from CEL Board President Byron Holden thanking AIT for its ongoing support of CEL's mission.
Improving the quality of life and facilitating continual learning for people of all ages with developmental disabilities is at the core of CEL's mission. The people who receive services from CEL are known as members. One long time member, Dena, created an original piece of art in a class offered by CEL. Her art was reproduced on canvas and a brass plate with a message of thanks was affixed to the piece.
Dena became a CEL member over 20 years ago and she has had many personal achievements in that time. She met her husband at CEL and they live together in their own apartment. She also holds a steady job and drives a car. Not only does she attend numerous CEL programs, but she also volunteers her time with CEL's youth programs.
Another member, Becky, gave a speech to attendees at the annual meeting. She participates in CEL's REACH Day program where members can go to learn new skills, retain current talents, make friends and socialize. The programs also teaches important life AIT Worldwide Logistics, through our AIT Cares program, has supported the Center for Enriched Living for many years. After the event, Randi Frank, Director of Development for CEL, said, "We are very grateful for the support we receive and glad to know so many wonderful people from AIT."
"This was my first visit to CEL," said Fennelly, "It was an honor to learn about the amazing work they're doing and how AIT, along with other donors, has helped to support their efforts. Most of all, it was truly heartwarming to hear Becky explain how important CEL is to her personally. I am proud that AIT has been able to play a part in backing CEL's work with the community."
For the past several years, AIT has regularly supported CEL's two largest fundraisers: the Chefs' Night event that takes place every spring and the charity golf tournament in the summer. On Monday, August 11 at the Ivanhoe Club in Mundelein, Illinois, AIT Worldwide Logistics will once again take part as a sponsor of the tournament.
