AIT-Orlando Participates in Thanksgiving Basket Brigade
The AIT-Orlando station recently participated in the 13th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade, an Orlando effort to provide Thanksgiving meals for families struggling to put food on the table during the holiday season.
Fanning out into the community from a local Home Depot parking lot used as a staging site, AIT employees worked with their family members to deliver some of the baskets on a Saturday morning. With this gesture to families who are down on their luck, the team was able to make a difference for many Thanksgiving suppers which may not have otherwise been possible.
Everyone from the station pitched in to fill four laundry baskets with roasting pans and a wide variety of Thanksgiving foodstuffs including beans, cranberries, canned vegetables, potatoes, stuffing and a coupon for a turkey or a ham. In all, nearly 400 families received baskets, helping to provide sustenance for more than 2,000 Floridians in need.
