AIT Baltimore Supports a Special Cause with a Frosty Dunk
On January 28, AIT-BWI employees took an icy dip in the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay as part of the 16th Annual Polar Bear Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics Maryland.
A sales executive from the station first heard about the event over lunch with a customer who also participated, “It sounded like a good idea – at the time,” she said with a smile. Later, she discovered fellow AIT colleagues were eager to join in.
Air and water temperatures were in the upper 30s when the team bravely ventured into the bay while being cheered on by AIT family members including station co-founder Betsy Reese.
Funds gathered through the event directly benefit Special Olympics Maryland, an organization that works with thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Through year-round training programs and competitions, they develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience the joy of participation – all at no cost to them or their families.
